TAFE Outreach and Social Inclusion

TAFE Outreach is strongly aligned to the federal governments Social Inclusion Agenda with its effective practice in diverse and flexible educational provision to the most marginalised in our communities.

TAFE NSW has a history of adapting to a rapidly changing society. For over 30 years TAFE NSW has provided Outreach programs ensure NSW education is accessible to people who face barriers to learning. Barriers to learning may include geographical and social isolation, language and cultural factors, financial hardship, lack of educational confidence, being unaware of opportunities to learn, a disability or family commitments.
NSW TAFE Outreach programs are informed through their reflective practice and in accordance with emerging policies including the federal Social Inclusion Agenda which aims to provide opportunity and capability to learn, work, engage and have a voice. The programs use Outreach approaches of providing opportunity and capability to learn, work, engage and have a voice; promoting aspiration; aiming to reducing disadvantage by increasing social, civic and economic participation; and developing a greater voice, combined with greater responsibility. Responsiveness, negotiation, continuous improvement and evaluation are critical to Outreach practice.
